Christmas around the world

Hello, 
This past 2 days we have been told to do christmas around the world we have been working on christmas around the world. Our teacher gave us a few options on our class site of how people celebrate it, ut we could choose our on if we wanted to but I choose 1 on the class site it was Italy I have researched about how Italy celebrates christmas. I found that this country was fun and 1 of the myths is really cool. The myth is about a witch but she is a good witch ( It is in my DLO ). I made a DLO to share my information and I want to share it with you. 

Poem About Camp

This week we have been working on ballads and poems. I have been doing it about camp. I have been doing it about the nights my favourite night was the first one we had lots of fun but we got told off alot for being to loud then I got a little bit of heat storke, I made 3 ballads there is one about the first night there is one about the second night and there is one about spotlight. I enjoyed doing this because I liked camp. 

A I heard the girls shout,

A But before I could open my mouth 

B Fria said Celine was possessed 

B I said give a rest

A and then we shut our Mouths.

A They said we were playing spotlight 

A I said it is going to get cold in the night 

B So I put a sweatshirt on then I ran 

B I went to my hiding spot i saw a man 

A but then the bell rang and I saw no one in sight

A It was the first night

A I was asleep then I got a fright 

B It was Fria saying she wanted to sleep on the floor 

B Then someone opened the door 

A It was the teacher telling us we will be cleaning when it got bright.

Maths DLO

This past 2 weeks we have been doing Maths and it is fun because our teacher made this really cool and fun slideshow, that tell you how to learn new things, but made it really fun. I thought I should do converting inproper Fraction into wholes with remainders, I thought to do this because I wanted to learn something new and I thought it was really cool and I would use this alot, I made a google drawing about how to learn about it.

Reading Last Week!

 This week we were doing maori language week and I choose to things I needed to focus on and that was Animalsin maori and counting to 10 in maori. I made a canva to present it, canva is a site where you can make posters and logos and fun stuff like that. so I did the maori number up to ten and I put 4 animals in maori.

It was fun making the canva because I really like canva, I have used it alot lately.

How To Use Easel.ly

Today My class and Room 5 did hang outs and people explain how to use apps and how to make it easy to use I am going to be talking about Easel.ly. This is an app to make cool posters and pictures. The that told us about the app helped me alot and know I know alot about the app.

My favourite thing about the app is that it is easy to use and it explains alot of what to do.

Encyclical

In R.E we have been doing Key Ideas, The key ideas key ideas help us to know more about Jesus and bishop and priests. We are on Key idea 6 we are learning about Popes of our time, our task was to learn about the Encyclical and come up with some question you can ask about it you come up with 3 questions but the questions have to be 1. When or What 2. how or why 3. Could, Should, Would or is. and I found facts about the  Encyclical and some of the facts I found shocking, one of the facts that were shocking was that Pope francis only wrote 2 Encyclical. But it was really fun doing, I found out lots of cool information and facts. 

Here our my questions and answers:

The first person to write an Encyclical was 1740 and was written by Pope Benedict XIV. THe people that have written the most was Pius XII, he wrote 41 Encyclical. Pope Francis has written 2  Encyclical, They write it for the issues in the church. Now  there are over 300 Encyclical 
Questions:
1.When was the first Encyclical to be wrote?
2.why do they write then? 
3. Is there more than 100 Encyclical?
Answer: 
1.1740.
2.to talk about issues in the church. 
3.Yes there are 300.

Pirate Timeline

This past 2 weeks we have learning about pirate timelines, and the people from the centries starting from the 15th ending at the 18th, We made a timeline of the Pirates and I did what they were famous for Like Grace O'Malley she was the first girl pirate she started in the 15th.

I think that the Location has changed because now there is to much land and not sea, because they were going everywhere and theres only a few places that they go. 

PIrate Language

This Term our topic is pirates so in reading we worked on "Learn The Pirate Language". So we looked of some sites and found out how pirates speak, and all there words and there slang words some of our word were  Ahoy (Hi), Hands off My booty (Hand off my gold), Aye (Yes) and Head (Toilet). We made a slideshow of all the things you should do to sound like a pirate. I really like making the Slideshow and all the fun words they use, It was hard to find some information but we Found 2 sites that really helped.

Cipher Wheel

For this term our topic is Pirates, This week we were learning about cipher wheels and what they were used for, they were used for serect messages there are ways a cipher wheel can beused like numbers and letters, Letters and letters, letters and symbols we used letters and numbers, how you use it is you find a code like K-12  and If you want to spell Hello you would spell 
10-7-13-13 -16.  

Pleiades

In Reading we were learning about the Pleiades and how many people celebrate it in many ways, I was doing Egypt, I Learnt that Other people celebrate Matariki and they celebarte it in other ways, I enjoyed making the D.L.O but I didn't like finding the information it was really hard I couldn't find anything.

Jesus' baptism

This Week we Learnt About how Jesus got baptised by John and we had to make a newpaper clipping to show what happened and Who was there, Where it was , When it happened and Why it happened. We had another task about how Jesus shows the holy spirit and how mary knew she was having a baby.

Matariki

Today we did our Matariki work and had to make a D.L.O about Matariki So I did it on a powtoon. A powtoon is a online tool you use if you want to  make a cool slideshow I think you should use it. I have leant that matariki is the Maori's new year.

Mahinga Kai

Today I made a poster about Mahinga Kai and what it is about and how it has changed. My reading task was to watch a vidoe about it then read about it then make a poster about it I made it on piktochart, piktochart is a online site were you can make poster and presentations and other things like that.

God's WIngs

In R.E we were learning about Some of Gods name so our teacher paired us in buddies and gave us a verse from the bible and it said "like an Eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to them and carries them aloft" so we had to draw what he was in that story and he was a mother eagle and he was procecting his baby eagle, so it is like we a the baby eagle and he is the mother eagle and when we turn away from God he always come to turn us back to him.

In R.E we Have been learning about the fruits of the Spirit and got to talk about one of the fruits so My teacher told me to do Joy I was super happy to get Joy, the Friuts of the spirit is 9 thing that you need to show there is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Slime Without Glue

Thuder Storm in a glass

We did another science experiment but it was about a thunderstorm in a cup.

What you need is a large cup, small bowl, food colouring, shaving cream, ½  a cup of water and a spoon 

Method.  

1. Fill half of the large cup with water 

2. Put shaving cream into the cup   

3. Smooth it out with a spoon but make sure not to pat it to hard or else it wont work 

4. Put food colouring in a small bowl then mix it up with water 

5. Get the food colouring bowl and take little scoops and you will see your create

Making Oobleck

Today we made oobleck , I made it with my brother, it demonstrates a chemical change because it made a new substance. 
If you would like to try making this he the ingredients and the method,
1.1/2 cups Corn strach or flour
food colouring 
1 cup of water 
and it is gooey and more corn strach or flour

Anzac Wreath

Today we made 2 Anzac wreaths to put on our street post and a sign saying Lest we Forget. We will be able to look at these on Anzac day when we go down to our coner to listen to a solider play the last post.(keeping our distance)

This is us cutting them with cardboard 

then we had paint the cardboard red and black(Moe was helping us too!) 

we cut out red cardboard poppys, and then scrunched Red crepe paper and and cut out black cardboard for the centers then we put them all together and stapled them onto our wreaths.

finally we walked down the road and nailed them to our street post 

even when we were coming home we saw people stopping and looking at our work

Today Preston and I did a science experiment. Our experiment taught us about chemical change vs physical change, our experiment shows a physical change because we made milk and vinegar into soild keyrings. We were working on Maori titles and there meaning and pick one so I choose Kaumātua because it just stood out to me and because it had 2 reasons. at first I thought it the word would be male or something related with a boy.  i mad a voki this is a website where you can do Sisomo that stands for Sight, Sound Motion and I explians what it means.

ANZAC Animals

This week we were learning about Anzac animals and then we shared what we learnt on a DLO (Digital Learning Object ). There are so many animals that help in the war like Cats, Dogs, Birds, Donkey, Koalo, they are used for lots of stuff like donkey were used for carrying on and bird were used talk to people from far away, and some were just so the army crew would have company. I choose just to do cats and dogs because they were the most common and because they were used for the best reason.

last week we were making a voki that is a website where you have a Sismo this is a sight sound and motion so it can talk and have colour and its mouth can 

move. 

we had to make it about a person how hs work lead him to death, I choose Father Douglas and he was a guy who always choose to help people he was a priest who went to world war 2 he prayer there but then he got kidnappedned by the japensene because he was to nice to others and then they tied him up in a church and started beated him up and until he was really hurt, but then when they were coming backhe was gone they didn't know where he went they say he died and if he did he died at 33 years old

The Anzac Violin

In room 5 we were reading a book called the ANZAC violin

it was about a guy named Alexander Aitken who battled for New Zealand in the war, well they were in the ship going to war aguy gave it to him because he didn't want it, but he knew before going to war he played music so he gave it to Alexander. but there was one thing you weren't allowed to bring eventhing that wasn't ment for war, so that means he wasn't allowed to have it. so the crew memebers had to seek it in and they did it and at night he would play it for the soliders and if they were hurt and went to the doctor he would play it there, half way through the war he got hurt and kept a diary and write in it. Our task was to write a part of a diary and make it better than his diary.

I Didn’t know what to say but then the  silence stopped with my violin playing my  music coming through all the dens. And then I heard someone scream and shout for help. Then BANG a gun fired a bullet I saw it happen with my own eyes I was shivering with fear.  THUD someone fell on the ground dead. I was thinking about how scracy the war is. There is a whistling sound coming from the sky there are bombs everywhere then I carefully crawl around trying not to make a sound then I see some of my crew dead in a pile. SWOOSH a bullet came right at me they found me I didn’t move, then another bullet came at me then I remember some of my crew members saying to hide behind the box so I did and I’m glad I survived
